Most often employers indicate the need for safety or rescue training, but with so many courses to choose from in a variety of outdoor environments, we want to make sure you’re getting the course you need.
Before we send you out into the environment with one of our Safety and Rescue Instructors we need to know a few things about you.
What environment are you interacting with and what level of risk is there?
We suggest the Level 2 course for the beginning of your training. This gives you basic knowledge into your environment, personal safety needs, and introduces team safety and rescue.
Upon completing this course you can then gain some practice and experience and then upgrade into Level 3 which deals with third party rescue in higher-risk environments.
Environments include: Swiftwater, Ice, Winter, Rope, Boat, and Helicopter
Response Capabilities: Shore-based, low-risk, static / flat-ice, low slope, basic operations
Level 3 is the place to start for any emergency services certification. This suggests you’ve spent time in your environment, but are ready to learn how to safely rescue others in medium to high risk environments.
Environments include: Swiftwater, Ice, Winter, Rope, Boat, and Helicopter
Response Capabilities: In water response/rescue, medium risk, dynamic, steep slope, basic technician
The industry standard is the Safety Rescue Technician Level 2 courses. If you are new to the environment or have been working for years in it this is the course you need. This gives you the understanding of risk assessments, personal safety and looking after your co-worker.
We also will teach you industry and work specific safety techniques to help you work safer and better.
Environments include: Swiftwater, Ice, Winter, Rope, Boat, and Helicopter
Response Capabilities: Shore-based, low-risk, static / flat-ice, low slope, basic operations
The industry standard is the Safety Rescue Technician Level 2 courses.
If you have are responding in very remote areas and using other tools in the environment such as ropes for access, helicopters, or boats then we recommend the Level 3 courses.
This gives you the understanding of risk assessments, personal safety and looking after your co-worker. We also will teach you industry and work specific safety techniques to help you work safer and better.
Environments include: Swiftwater, Ice, Winter, Rope, Boat, and Helicopter
Response Capabilities: In water response/rescue, medium risk, dynamic, steep slope, basic technician
In other words you are responsible for your clients safety while providing them with a safe and amazing experience. Rescue Canada recommends the Level 3 courses.
These will give you the tools to complete a solid risk assessment and understand how to rescue and care for your clients.

Response Capabilities: In water response/rescue, medium risk, dynamic, steep slope, basic technician
You have a few different options depending on what fits into your budget and how adventurous you want to be.
We recommend starting with our Awareness courses to gain some basic knowledge into the environments.
From there you can take our Level 1 or 2 courses which will give you the ability to recognize hazards, risk, and the ability to find the most amazing ways to play safe in the environment.

Awesome! We offer basic awareness courses online for individuals just getting into new outdoor environments.
Or if you’re looking for more hands-on practical training, start at the Safety Level 1 courses. These will give you a basic understanding of your chosen environment and personal safety while operating within it.
