In these courses, you’ll learn about ropes, knots, and hardware. You’ll learn organized rope rescue techniques from low slope to high angle, how to use the rope, and its limitations.
All our rope courses are practical performance based on actually taught in the environment you will be operating in. This may be road side, wilderness or in industry. We can also customize any rope course and tailor to you exact needs.
Courses vary depending on slope environments, tasks, and responsibilities. All courses have the same core fundamentals of hazard assessment and personal safety. The courses are also designed specifically for your needs.
This may be personal knowledge of rope systems to building rope systems to leading a rescue in the field. Each course is designed for specific environments and responses as well as the client’s needs.

Basic Theory and Knowledge of Rope Rescue
This awareness course is designed to give the student the theory and knowledge into the rope rescue environment.
Knowledge in ropes, breaking strengths, slopes and equipment is all introduced. Other topics include risk assessments, PPE and the foundations for a rope systems.
This is the foundation for all the other rope courses we offer.
Basic Knots, Anchors, and Rope Systems
This course is designed for those who would like practical training in the use of rope techniques to solve problems that may arise in the backcountry, and low risk environments or just wanting to learn the basics.
Introduction to practical knots, improvised anchors, hand lines, harnesses, simple belays, mechanical advantage and rappelling.
Low to Steep Slopes Rescue Systems Designed for Road Rescue
Rope Safety Rescue Technician Level 2 course is designed for those that are required to respond to rescue/operational environments that require the use of ropes for low and steep slopes.
The course is designed to give the student all the skills necessary to understand basic rope rescue, personal safety, and team safety.
Training meets and or exceeds NFPA 1670 and Emergency Management BC OHS Road Rescue Safety Guidelines.
Vertical Rope Rescue Systems and Rope Team Member
The Rope Safety Rescue Technician Level 3 training course is designed for the rope rescue team member.
This course covers all the skills necessary to be a member of a rope rescue team. Training meets and or exceeds NFPA 1670 standard for organized rope rescue.
Course is designed for environments including wilderness and industrial locations where rope evacuation of a subject is a possibility. The training is limited to organized rope rescue techniques for rope rescue team members.
It does not cover fall protection, restraint, confined space or lock-out training involved with specific industrial sites.
Rope Team Leader for Low to Vertical Systems
This course is designed to sharpen Team Leaders skills and introduce advanced rope techniques.
Instructional skills include advanced problem solving, along with other advanced skill such as Kootenay Highline with Reeving Systems, Guide Lines and advanced pick-off techniques and/or tower crane evacuation, technical rescue involving confined space / special access requirements.
